Self-Portrait at Fifty

Maybe I should've taken a self-portrait the day I turned fifty. But why? I'm going to be fifty all year. There's still time. Though turning fifty brings a looming feeling there may be much less of it than I took for granted in my younger days.

Who knows, though; I could have more than fifty years left. All with some kind of wise, patient acceptance of the malleable nature of time as we experience it, even as we recognize our constant plodding motion forward on the timeline: sloughing off seconds, minutes, years, and opportunities into the shadow of our past.
